Crawl Cat 400 Dredger
The Crawl-Cat is an amphibious cutter suction dredger, designed for working on projects such as the maintenance and construction of irrigation canals.
The present range of standard Crawl-Cat dredgers comprises two models with machinery outputs of abt. 400 and 600 horsepower.
It distinguishes itself from conventional cutter dredgers of the following elements:
Four independent in height adjustable trackpoles with hydraulically driven tracks.
An accurately controlled swinging ladder with adjustable hydraulically driven cutter
An independent cooling water system for the main diesel engine
The above mentioned features allow continuous dredging. The dredger is sufficiently stable and allows dredging operations without interruptions because the next cut is reached by simple advancing by tracks. Within reasonable limitations the dredger has ability to work a fixed dredging depth, independent from tide and wind. The bottom pressure can be varied by pontoon floatation.
Polluted water will not affect the cooling water system of the diesel engine. The technical lay-out is of uncomplicated nature not requiring skilled operators or engineers. A good manoeuvrability on shore is achieved by means of the hydraulically driven trackpoles with crawlers and the dredger can be turned 180°. The cutter ladder and cutter can be operated separately or simultaneously.
The complete operation of the dredger can be handled by one operator in the control cabin with simple hydraulic controls. The necessary equipment is mounted in and on the main pontoon so that a minimum number of parts has to be dismantled when the dredger is transported.
Special attention has been paid to a simple and quick assembly and dismantling.
The dimensions of all parts are such that they can be transported by road, ship or rail.
